Lore & Background

The history of the Alliance is rooted in the conflict known as the Unification War. The Alliance already existed as a governing body before this war, and the Unification War was fought by the Alliance to bring the outer planets under its control. Since then, they have worked to standardize culture, technology, and law across their domain, often viewing the customs of the Rim as backward or dangerous. Beneath the surface of their administrative efficiency lies a darker history involving unethical experimentation. The Miranda Project stands as a grim testament to their willingness to sacrifice populations for perceived greater goals, resulting in the planet Miranda being affected by the G-23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate (the 'Pax') added to the air processors, which caused the population to become docile and then die from lack of basic survival instincts—though the planet was not entirely depopulated, the gas caused the population to stop functioning. While most citizens remain unaware of these atrocities, the fear they inspire among dissidents keeps the Alliance secure. Their military wing, the Alliance Military, acts as both police and army, patrolling borders and suppressing rebellion with efficiency.
